Event Review: MCC 2011, Tagcom 2011 & Toycon 2011

MCC 2011 Event Poster

Metro Comic Con 2011 (formerly Manila Comic-Con) is the Philippines’ own international convention on popular arts. It is one of the biggest pop culture event of the year. Held in Megatrade Hall 2 of SM Megamall in 2 days (May 7-8), the comic geeks and cosplayers attended and enjoyed the said event. They had an area of free comic books to read and free sketches area plus! Many unrevealed guests before the event and activities including the cosplay competition. More exciting than the last year's Metro Comic Con event.

Me together with Shichirou and Reimu during the event.
Kyoko/Meijen as Miku Hatsune Casual Version
Mikune Seki as Mikuo (Gender Bender of Miku Hatsune)
Me cosplayed as Stocking Anarchy Casual Version

had fun with Philippine Anime Otakus.

I didn't entered the hall nor bought tickets on both days. Even though I didn't saw inside the event, You can notice that the attendees and cosplayers are not that minimal. The photographers were enjoying the event too.

Tagcom 2011 Event Poster

The 5th Tagcom 2011 is a 3 days Event, (May 20, 21 & 22) instead of compressing the activities in two days, the team of the event decided to make it a 3 days event to have a more spacious area for the attendees to enjoy. Held in Robinsons Place Manila Midtown Atrium. And the admission is FREE! Very interesting to attend, right? :)

Spent the event with National Youth Anime Kinship Organization :3

Day 1 May 20 ( Friday ) - Will be for collectors who wish to have a spacious area to shop. Not being disturb by other activities though all sellers will be present on the 3 day event duration.

Day 2 May 21( Saturday ) - Collectible sale, other activities like K-Pop competition etc.

Day 3 May 22 ( Sunday ) - Collectible sale, Radio control finals, Cosplay Competition, awarding, etc.

If you attended the event, you will see the Race Tracks at the back of the stage, they held a Tamiya Race Competition. There are also few arcade games inside the area plus lots of stalls selling toys, etc. Another one is the Gundam competition that will really catch your attention.

The area is really crowded, I didn't walked around like in other conventions since I don't see any ways to walk in and out. It really makes you tired, even the stage is not that attractive, it is small unlike their stage during the PCC 2011. I wonder how the cosplayers ramp on stage during the competition... O.o

Toycon 2011 Event Poster.

Toycon 2011 is on it's 10th year! Philippine Toy Con is Asia's biggest and long time running convention for comics, toys, anime, cosplay, movies, gaming and anything related to hobby and collectibles. Held in Megatrade Hall 1, 2 & 3 of SM Megamall last June 18 and 19.

You can notice the top brands and products being sold and exhibited if you attended the event. Plus the attracting cosplayers cosplayed different Marvel Heroes and Anime characters. ToyCon always offers and delivers on what it is known for every year - awesome toy/geek bargains, lots of cosplayers, toy displays, statue/sculpt exhibits and freakishly long lines and crowded halls. But hey, what’s exchanging some sweat with another fellow geek, right? Gotta love the merch.

"Wanna play?"
Touwa Erio cosplayer. Hope you're wearing a futon, Futon Girl.

Apart from the sales, they’ve got awesome displays. Cosplayers were a dime a dozen. Seriously, every year, more and more folks show up in costumes - everyone from freaks to genuinely amazing cosplayers.

Benjiro Erizawa as Misa Amane Crossplay. Wow O.O

The main reason why I attended this event is to cosplay Stocking Anarchy complete version but since I had a fever during the event, I wasn't able to cosplay or else, I would die. XD
I only attended Day 2 due to my sickness and I thought that it my day would sucks. If only there's no meet up with my anime clan, I wouldn't attend. Whenever I think about this big event where I wasn't able to go inside the hall due to sickness and financial problem, I feel depressed. =.=

YURINESSSSSS! x.x

The Apple of my Eye: Mischievous Kiss

Baek Seung-Jo and Oh Ha-Ni. His mom probably jumps several times while watching them.

Mischievous Kiss/Playful Kiss is one of the most popular Korean TV Series on the Philippine TV this season. With the main characters, Kim Hyun Joong and Jung So Min, they really catch the attention of the viewers. Currently airing on the local channel, GMA 7. Even the children watch it, due to the series' story and KHJ's appeal.

"yeah" - what an expression. O.O

The series' trailer created my interest to watch this series, even though I'm not fond of K-dramas. Well, it didn't made my day boring. Hahaha! It actually cause my voice to lose. lol XD Thanks to my Aunt who borrowed a CD from her neighbor, I finished the series early before GMA shows its last episode. wew~

I prefer her hairstyle here, :))
Stalker Ha-Ni. XD
When I've heard about its special series, I planned to watch it soon. They said it's about Ha-Ni as nurse and Seung-Jo as a doctor. Wow, I can't imagine how successful they are even though they get married at an early age. *envy* Can this happen here in the Philippines? O.o

This series is a success! One of the best K-dramas I've ever watch! If you haven't watch it yet, why don't you try? You'll never regret it! :D

Damn you, Seung-Jo. How can he do this while spending his day with Ha-ni only in their house?! O.O
Awesome kiss. I wish something like that. :P
R.I.P Oh Ha-Ni... Seung-Jo's stares like he can kill you with full of love. >.<

Event Review: PUP OXP, 4th PCC & TamaCon

PUP Otaku Experience's Official Poster

PUP Otaku Experience
was held in PUP Freedom Plaza in PUP Sta.Mesa, or the main campus. Partnered by Cosplay.Ph, the event was a successful happening for PUP's Otaku U-Rule, one of PUP's Otaku Organization in the main campus. The entrance is free! And the event is one of a kind. :)

RG Gamurot (center) is the event director of PUP OXP

The PUP Otaku Experience or OXP is a musical variety show aimed to reach out students and non students fan of anime and Japanese pop culture. The event functions also as the debut of PUP Otaku U-Rule, a Japanese oriented youth development organization.

The J-rock bands like Sagashimono, Molded Sushi, Onigiri Infusion, Superior Pocky, Haponesang Dilat, and many more were featured in the event. The cosplayers were minimal, but still there are many people who attended the event.

4th Philippine Cosplay Convention's Official Poster

The 4th Philippine Cosplay Convention has been held in Saturday, March 5 · 10:00am – 8:00pm at Midtown Atrium Robinson’s Place.  The event entrance is also free and unlike the PUP OXP, the place was crowded by the cosplayers and enthusiasts! There are also cosplay competition and auctions happened in the event, and 4th PCC was obviously successful!

The gray soldier. ASTIG! XD looks like a toy from Toy Story haha.
Angel Padilla cosplaying a character from the anime Ikkitousen.
Chienna Filomeno as a game character.

Lots of cosplayers joined the cosplay competition. While the audiences enjoyed the auction lead by Sir Pablo, the founder of Cosplay.ph. Because of the crowded event, you can notice and see pairs of the same cosplayed character, like Panty and Stocking cosplay from the anime Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt and Suckerpunch cosplay.

The two Singaporean cosplayers as Panty and Stocking.

Models from Poise & Fashion, visited PCC as the models of High Sierra.

I cosplayed Tsukasa Hiiragi from the anime Lucky Star. Thanks to Meijen for the costume. Still my current costume at that time is not yet available. Unlucky, I wasn't able to join the cosplay competition due to the costume arrived late. XD

Tamashii Con of DLSU's Official Poster

Tamashii Con: Reviving Japan's 80's and 90's, the word "tamashii" was used because of randomness and its awesomeness to emphasize our aim which is "reviving Japan's 80's and 90's". It is an event that would educate us by tackling Japanese culture from then to now.

De La Salle University's Nihon Kenkyu Kai is a professional organization for International Studies majoring in Japanese subjects and culture. On March 19 2011, the NKKi together with Anime Alliance and the Literature Circle, held a Japanese Pop Culture Convention at SM Megatrade from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, entitled “Tamashii Con.” This convention is a large gathering of like-minded groups and individuals celebrating popular culture and its influence in society through such activities as contests, talks, events, the selling of products, and the like. Of course, this involved the inclusion of anime, cosplay & otaku culture.

De La Salle University's Nihon Kenkyu Kai and Literature Circle, in cooperation with Anime Alliance Philippines brings the Tamashii Con - Reviving Japan's 80's and 90's.

I cosplayed a Gothic Lolita Maid.

There were bands performed on stage and speakers who discussed more about Japan's culture.

I joined their Karaoke competition singing "Calendula Requiem" by KanonxKanon

I'm with Ms. Janelle Cahilig, the vocalist of the band Sagashimono.

On-event Contests are the following:
> Eating Contests
> General Japanese Trivia games
> Karaoke Singing Competition
> Individual and Group Cosplay

Ralph Quiambao, one of the organizers of the event.
Ms. Telly Lim, one of the organizers of the event too. :)) such pretty.

The event named "Tamashii Con" or in short "Tamacon" held at SM Megatrade Hall 3, 5th Floor, Building B of SM Megamall at Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

Entrance Fee is a standard of 100php

The best shot for me during the TamaCon, thanks to Philippine Anime Otakus :))
The cosplayers were also minimal. But the event was obviouly successful because of it's well managed program. Their auction was kinda boring because the items were too expensive. The hosts were really speaking straight english! XD What's more cool is when Sagashimono performed on stage, the audiences were really amazed :)

With my friends: Pam Ola (R) and Verze (Beside left) and the cosplayers Emjei, etc.
Most catching cosplayer in the event, super cute ryt? >.<
